On John Fogerty: 'We've been through a lot together'
For years, John Fogerty refused to record to new music, even refused to perform his old songs. He blamed a bad deal with Fantasy Records' head Saul Zaentz, and legal action followed. But all of that seemed to be behind him after the former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman returned with the blockbuster solo album Centerfield. It wasn't — not the lawsuits or, it turns out, the issue with his songs. It's a period of about 56 years, and so far, we've been celebrating the 50th anniversary of 'Proud Mary,' so you do the math. It should be pretty soon.

John Cameron Fogerty born May 28, is an American musician, singer, and songwriter. The group had nine top singles and eight gold albums between and , and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Since CCR parted ways in , Fogerty has had a successful solo career, [6] which continues to the present. He was listed on Rolling Stone magazine's list of Greatest Songwriters at number 40 and the list of Greatest Singers at number Lucile Fogerty taught 2nd grade and was from Great Falls, Montana. In his memoir, Fortunate Son , Fogerty was critical of the school, saying when in class he was not permitted to go to the bathroom when he asked, and frequently wet himself and was forced to sit in his wet clothing.
It was a good run. Clifford is speaking by phone from his winter home in Scottsdale, built on a plot of land he bought in He and his wife have lived there four months of every year since then. In the course of a minute conversation, the drummer spoke freely about everything from why he moved to Arizona to the evolution of his previously strained relationship with John Fogerty, the man who wrote the hits upon which Clifford built his legacy. And that one sounds a lot like CCR, which he assures us was intentional. So that's a card. And if I'm doing business, then I want to play that card. Tensions have cooled between the drummer and John Fogerty, who sued his former bandmates in a failed attempt to stop them from using the name Creedence Clearwater Revisited.
