Uriah Heep has now released it under its own label imprint Uriah Heep Records. These are not new songs but re-recorded versions of classic Uriah Heep numbers since their inception as a band. The overall quality of the recording, production and mix of the 27 cuts featured between two CDs is brilliant to say the least, as the band definitely makes a statement with their melodic progressive rock. His vocals are not your typical crooner type of singing, as he has a range and tone that fits the mood and depth of each song when it calls for it. The sheer dynamics of his voice is unpredictable yet very distinct, which gives Uriah Heep such a unique edge when it comes down to writing memorable songs and guitar harmonies. There are also a few ballads for those of you hopelessly in love with the softer side of rock bands, and these too, are very interesting cuts, which I feel the band has done a superb job with.

My history with Uriah Heep goes back to Demons and Wizards. Memory is hazy, but I might very well have bought the LP on a whim based on the Roger Dean cover art and the fantasy-oriented song titles. When I was a teenager, that could be enough. Luckily, I ended up really liking the album. I picked up Sweet Freedom on its release, but found it mostly a let-down, with more predictable songs — just all-around less inspired sounding. That was pretty much it for me. I know they kept releasing albums, but never felt inclined to seek them out. During the preparations for those concerts, they recorded versions of the tunes, which were released on the Classic Rock Legends label with the misleading title Remasters. With Totally Driven , the band has taken those recordings and released them in a lovely package with beautiful artwork.
Uriah Heep – Totally Driven
Equator remains an album, that many life-long Heep fans care not to remember [I like a number of moments on this one though]. After extensive touring Goalby and Sinclair would leave [sadly, Goalby was never to return as a singer in any other band, effectively retiring from performing]. However, for all their 20 years together, recordings would become few and far between, and the band would become mainly a heavy touring act, playing everywhere possible [first band in Moscow in ]. From this point the band would carry on touring for years. The band taking inspiration from early Heep recordings, delivered an outstanding album of heavy rockers, progressive masterpieces, and a couple of memorable ballads. It really exceeded long time fans expectations at the time.
Uriah Heep: Totally Driven Back in , legendary heavy rock act Uriah Heep set out to get ready for their 'Acoustically Driven and Electrically Driven' concerts by re-recording 27 of their classic songs from throughout their long history. Originally released under the title Remasters , that set quickly went out of print, and here we are 14 years later and the band have decided to relaunch the 2CD set under the title of Totally Driven. Many of the mandatory Heep songs are included here, such as staples "July Morning", "Easy Livin' ", "Gypsy", "Sunrise", "Look at Yourself", "Stealin' ", "Lady in Black", and "Traveller in Time", but it's the surplus of solid deep cuts from their '70s repertoire that really makes this set worthwhile.
